Artist's Description
This is my favorite coast-line in the world - the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. This was taken in 2002 on a rare sunny day in winter. This part of New Zealand has the highest rainfall of the country, because the prevailing winds off the Tasman Sea, hit the Southern Alps, a mountain range near the coast, resulting in a lot of rain which has created the unique rain-forest climate in the area.
This image was a Top Finisher in the April 2012 Contest "Family Friendly FLASH Fifth Fewest Views".
About Peter Mooyman
Born and raised in New Zealand, I have loved to take photographs ever since I was given a plastic 35mm camera on my 13th birthday. I take photos of whatever looks interesting or spectacular, but what I enjoy most is being outdoors and capturing the beauty of nature. If you like an image but want to change something minor, like the cropping or brightness/contrast/saturation, etc, I would be happy to work with you to customize an image to fit your needs - just ask! Enjoy my portfolio and please come back often to check out the latest additions.
