Description
A river of moss is created by a babbling brook passing through a sub-alpine forest near Mowich Lake in Mt Rainier National Park. This is one of many small streams that cross the Spray Park Trail which starts at the lake, meanders through a quiet forest before passing by many streams and falls, snaking up a steep hill and coming out into open meadows filled with wildflowers in the summer. This was taken in July 2015 during our hottest and driest summer ever, and these streams are still being produced by the ever-dwindling snow-pack on Mt Rainer. These beautifully green ribbons of moss stand out amidst the bone-dry forests.
